Dilay Z. Karadöller is an assistant professor at the Department of Psychology at Middle East Technical University and a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics. After finishing her BA (2013) and MA (2016) degrees from Boğaziçi University, Department of Psychology, she received her PhD (2021) from the Max Planck Institute of Psycholinguistics and Radboud University in the Netherlands. She then continued her academic studies as a postdoctoral researcher (2021-2023) at Koç University Language and Cognition Laboratory.

In her work, she investigates spatial language, mathematical language, and their relationship to various cognitive functions, focusing on variations in language modality (e.g., sign language, spoken language, and gestures that accompany speech) and age of exposure to sign language. Her work is funded by various international funds (Society for Research in Child Development) and grants (Max Planck Society).
